About the Alliance

The Chippewa River Watershed Alliance has been successfully operating as a collaborative network of agency representatives for approximately 15 years. The Alliance is comprised of tribal/federal/state agencies, local governmental units, environmental non-profits, local businesses and academic institutions.

Our Mission

Working as a community to improve water quality, protect and restore natural resources, and enhance outdoor recreational opportunities within the Chippewa River Watershed.

Our Vision

We see a Chippewa River Watershed that is a valued and prized community resource with safe, clean, and resilient waters; thriving ecosystems; and responsible users. 

Our Goals

Goal 1: Work with the community to improve water quality in the Chippewa River Watershed.

Objectives: 

​

  • Expand community outreach efforts to underserved communities 

  • Develop a list of training opportunities available that can be posted on the CRWA website and provided to anyone interested in learning more about the Chippewa River Watershed.

  • Invite all counties/municipalities within the Chippewa River Watershed to attend CWRA meetings and become CRWA members.  

  • Increase the membership of the Alliances and create partnerships throughout the entire Chippewa River Watershed.

Goal 2: Protect and restore natural resources within the Chippewa River Watershed.

Objectives:

​

  • Develop an NRCS-approved watershed management plan.

  • As the plan is written, identify future restoration projects.

  • Develop a list of the current opportunities for Best Management Practices (BMP) landowner assistance.

Goal 3: Enhance recreational opportunities within the Chippewa River Watershed.

Objectives:

​

  • Create responsible watershed users by helping people to understand their impact.

  • Developing a water trail.
